Preparing for Employment with Autism Insights Foundation

As my sweet girl enters her teenage years, I’m thinking more about how to help her build a future she’s excited about. Like all teens, she’s exploring her interests—but as an autistic young woman, her path to finding a career may look different. That’s why I’m committed to helping her discover her passions in a way that aligns with her strengths and comfort level.

At Autism Insights Foundation (AIF), we believe that autistic adults deserve meaningful employment opportunities. But that journey starts long before adulthood—it begins with exploring interests, developing skills, and building confidence. I want my granddaughter to see that her unique abilities aren’t obstacles; they’re assets that can shape her future.

Instead of overwhelming her with career talk, I introduce possibilities through casual conversations, hands-on experiences, and encouragement. Whether she’s drawn to technology, animals, or creative pursuits, I help her see how those interests can translate into real opportunities. And when the time comes, AIF will be there, advocating for inclusive workplaces and employers who value neurodiverse talent.

Success doesn’t have just one definition, and I want my sweet girl to know that she can thrive in her own way.
