It’s Christmas time again, and at Autism Insights Foundation, we want to take a moment to wish you the happiest holiday season—whatever that looks like for you. The holidays can feel like a time of magic, but we know for many, it’s also a time of stress, noise, and overwhelming expectations. That’s why we’re here to remind you that however you celebrate, it’s okay to make it your own.

For our family, the holidays might look a little different than what you typically see in movies or on social media. We’ll be screaming with quiet during stressful times, seeking refuge in a cozy corner when the energy is too much. We’ll be saying “sorry, but we can’t make it to every party,” because sometimes it’s just not possible to handle the social demands. And we’ll be enjoying long car rides, looking at Christmas lights, and holding the carols in our heads. If you could hear me sing, you’d know why this is a gift to you all.

But just because it might not look “perfect,” doesn’t mean it won’t be special. Christmas, like life itself, can be as varied as the person celebrating. It doesn’t have to fit into a one-size-fits-all box, and that’s perfectly okay.

So, from all of us at AIF, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, however you spend it. Whether it’s filled with laughter or quiet moments, may it be filled with peace and joy.

Happy Holidays!
